Lilac bush never blooms?

i also have a lilac bush...no luck on blooming. It looks nice and full...but no pretty flowers. : (





What should I do?

I have one in my yard too. I don%26#039;t even know where it came from. We don%26#039;t do anything with it. We just let it grow. The flowers usually don%26#039;t bloom until the middle of summer for some reason. It may just take time. But, I don%26#039;t know much about gardening =)
Reply:It sounds like you%26#039;re pruning your lilac in early spring, when the flower buds are ready to bloom. My husband lovingly pruned my lilac for me one spring, and was so proud of his handiwork. We still joke about the fact that I didn%26#039;t get any lilac blossoms that year; at the time, it wasn%26#039;t a pretty picture .... Lilacs should only be pruned after this year%26#039;s flowers have faded and you can see the seed pods forming. I love lilacs, they are one of my favorite plants. As far as I know, they can%26#039;t be grown in Scottsdale, AZ, where I%26#039;m currently living, because it%26#039;s too hot! Good luck!
Reply:The bush might be older and has not been pruned for years. You should prune the bush every year after the flowers have fallen.( or when they were supposed to in your case) Make sure not to over prune your first year you shouldnt cut more than 25% of the plant. It might take a few years to get it to bloom but its worth it.
Reply:give it some time i have one and it took over two years for it to bloom it needs direct sun like though mine is in the front yard out in the open it finally bloomed and it looks and smells great
Reply:I planted the young lilac that i bought from the nursery by my house early last spring. It didn%26#039;t bloom at all. But this spring, it finally bloomed. It may take some time for yours to bloom.
Reply:It takes a few years for lilacs to bloom after transplanting. It could be no enough sun, it could be not sweet enough. Hard to say without inspection.
Reply:Get some fertilizer it might help.I have 1 to.I put fertilizer on mine last year doing alot better.
Reply:prune the lilac bush. My neighbor planted about ten along our fence line and by the second or third year they were beautiful.
