Lilac bridesmaids and Silver groomsmen?

My girls will be wearing lilac dresses, but my fiance really doesn%26#039;t want his guys to wear %26quot;purple%26quot;. Would silver work? Or should the groomsmen match the girls? We%26#039;re getting married in May 09. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

Lilac bridesmaids and Silver groomsmen?
That sounds really nice!! The groomsmen don%26#039;t have to match the girls exactly. You can tie in the silver w/the girls by having them wear silver shoes, silver jewelery or having them use silver ribbon on their bouquets.

Congrats %26amp; good luck =)

EDIT: I am assuming you meant silver ties, vests, etc. for the guys. Silver suits might be hard to pull off ~ it would depend on the whole %26quot;theme%26quot; of your wedding ;)
Reply:I think it would look beautiful...honestly not to many guys like purple!
Reply:That is exactly what I will be doing.

We bought a swatch of the lavender fabric with us to the tux place, and the color contrast is very striking. And the plus side is that the groomsmen don%26#039;t look pathetically old school.
Reply:No, not silver. Maybe a nice dove grey.
Reply:Silver would work...or you could have black tuxedos with lilac buttonairres...or a deeper purple accent.
Reply:What about a silver vest and maybe either a lilac tie or flowers?
Reply:You REALLY don%26#039;t want men to wear silver suits. The humiliation will never end. Come on, how many times can anybody pull off wearing silver? Now how many times can a guy pull it off? Not many.

What%26#039;s wrong with black tuxedoes like almost every other wedding? Black is the ultimate standard and neutral color you can use for the guys.
Reply:I would go with the traditional black. If you would like a less formal look, the guys could wear grey suits.
Reply:i absolutely LOVE silver and purple together...
Reply:The colors sound great! The guys can wear silver with a lilac accent like a flower or hanker chief to tie it all together
Reply:I think that sounds great!
Reply:Hi. Light lilac for the men would look great...but if your fiance is against it....yes, I think lilac and silver look great together!
Reply:I%26#039;m getting married in February of %26#039;09 and my wedding colors are lavender, mint green and silver. I think just lavender and silver together would look awesome. Go for it. :-)
Reply:That sounds very pretty. The groomsmen don%26#039;t have to match the bridesmaids exactly. For my wedding the girls are wearing blue and the groomsmen are wearing yellow.
Reply:That would be an awesome color combination! I really like it!
Reply:I like that, but you may want to think about silver sashes for the bridesmaids so they tie together somehow.
Reply:I had silver and purple for my wedding and it look great, the colours go together really well and everyone loved the theme colours. My groomsmen didn%26#039;t want to wear purple either so I had them just wear a purple flower and they wore black and silver. It will look great.
Reply:Why don%26#039;t you get the groom to wear a silver tie and silver vest, the groomsmen to wear a lilac tie and a silver vest, and the bridesmaids to wear the lilac dresses with silver shoes and jewelery?

Or go to the suit shop with your H2B with a swatch of your bridesmaids dress fabric so that you can choose a colour that you both like to combine with your bridesmaids

eg. lilac and green work
Reply:As long as it is just the vest, however, my dresses are lilac and the guy at the tux store told me that it looks hidious together. He told me to go with the ivory vest to match my dress. That way the men don%26#039;t feel feminine and it does not clash either. Before you order the vest take the dresses or at least the color up there with you to see if you will even like it. Ask the retailers opinion on it. They will tell you the truth.
Reply:I think that will be very pretty!!! An idea, since it%26#039;s in may, your groomsmen could wear grey afternoon suits. with the lilac ties. those go really pretty with lilies. I did something similar with my wedding and it turned out better than I expected :-)

Edit: In that case, I think that silver ties and vests would be awesome. So that they can totally match each other, silver ribbons around the girls%26#039; bouquets. And make sure that any kind of jewelry they wear is siver or white gold. Aww, I%26#039;m too excited for ya!! Good luck and congrats!!
Reply:yes this sounds really good. you should be ok
Reply:I can understand the dudes not wanting to wear lilac. lol.

But the lilac and silver combo sounds awesome.
Reply:Silver because it will look better than lilac on men
Reply:I think it sounds beautiful. There%26#039;s no reason they should match. When the groomsmen wear black, the bridesmaids don%26#039;t.
Reply:Just my oppinion but Silver and Lilac seem a little bit clashy. What about a light blue for the boys? Light blue and light purple.. or maybe even a dark blue?
